Turkmenistan and the United States have intensified bilateral cooperation following high-level diplomatic meetings in Ashgabat focused on education, business, digitalisation and economic partnership. Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashit Meredov and US Deputy Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across political, economic, cultural and humanitarian sectors.
During talks in Ashgabat, both sides highlighted growing collaboration in education, science, culture and the digital transformation of key industries. Turkmenistan currently participates in more than 15 US educational programmes, while universities in both countries have established cooperation agreements. The discussions also covered media, public relations and public diplomacy, with both parties expressing interest in expanding joint projects and cooperation within the C5+1 framework.
Economic ties were also a key focus. A Turkmen-American business forum brought together government officials and US business representatives to discuss trade, investment and sector-specific cooperation. Priority areas include industry, agriculture, energy, transport, communications, construction, cybersecurity, healthcare and environmental protection. Participants also welcomed the launch of the Turkmen-American Business Cooperation Association, established to strengthen commercial relations.
Recent contacts between Turkmen and US officials have underscored growing engagement in trade, energy security and regional development. Earlier meetings involving senior government representatives from both countries focused on transport connectivity, diversification of energy routes and expanding business cooperation in sectors such as logistics, oil and gas, and agriculture.
The latest diplomatic and business initiatives suggest that Turkmen-US relations are entering a more active phase, with further cooperation expected in education, technology, energy and investment as both sides seek to deepen long-term strategic and economic ties.
